Historical itinerary (on foot): The tour starts with the red castle walls and the medieval towers built by the people of Treviso at the end of 12th century as a fortress to protect the town and market from enemy attacks. Once inside the walls, the visitor should make his way to the Duomo. The most important work here is the 'Madonna with Saints' by Giorgione (16th century). In the sacresty there are frescoes painted by P. Veronese and G.B. Zelotti. To the left of the church lies the building known as the 'Casa del Giorgione' where we can admire the Chiaroscuro fresco of natural things. To the right of the church, note the palace of the Monte di Pietà ( the Holy Pawn institution ) now home
of the Civic Library. Not far from it, in via Garibaldi, there is the Teatro Accademico. Leave the old town, passing under the clock tower and cross the Salad bridge. To the right, notice the “Spinelli-Guidozzi” residence, frescoed by the school of Veronese and the nearby “Bovolini-Soranzo” house with its frescoes depicting the Labours of Hercules.
Going out of the historical town center, along the Borgo Treviso, the tour reaches the 19th century “Villa Revedin Bolasco” with its grand park, one of the most important of the Veneto.
