Between the Alps and the Po Valley, near the Italian border of Switzerland, the territory lariano is characterized by a great variety of landscapes and human settlements. The lake is certainly a plus sign 'strong' throughout the area: 46 km long, covers an area of 146 sq km, a maximum depth of 410m and a width varying from 4.3 kilometers (between Cadenabbia and Fiumelatte) and 0430 km (between Torriggia and Careno). On it the winds blow steady and Tivano Breva. Around there are steep mountains and rolling hills, narrow valleys and inaccessible, and other large and myths, rent inhabited plains and forests still intact, small towns and cities, towns and villages of Lake Mountain, impetuous streams and the river Adda.
Lake Como, Lake of the ancient Romans, pushes her to the summit of the Valtellina and Valchiavenna, towards the snowy steps of the famous and Spluga, Maloja, the Stelvio, old keys for travel and trade to the Rhineland and the Tyrol. The lake opens a narrow course, diverge at Bellagio's two branches: the eastern shore is dotted with small towns of rare beauty where tourism, history, art and nature blend harmoniously, protected by the mild climate lakes. It is a superb example Varenna, allowing splendid villas laid on the stretch of water, as if to soften the harshness of the natural landscape: the eastern branch runs it seems like a fast narrow canyon cliffs among the mountains, the foothills of the San Primo and Canzo horns on the one hand and those of Legnone and other Grigne: limestone peaks latter, a spire and pinnacles, the most known and popular in Lombardy.
