Giungano is a little village situated in the Cilento and Vallo di Diano National Park, very near to the archaeological site of Paestum ” recently inserted in the U.N.E.S.C.O. list of places of world heritage. The village with its silences and its calm has preserved a sense of the Middle Ages, of feudal power and of country society. The houses, built in a semicircle, face onto the valley with a panorama up to the sea. The archaeological sites of Pompeian, Herculaneum and Oplontis are within easy reach by car, as are the legendary Amalfi Coast, Ravello with its beautiful Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone, and the delightful Positano . From Salerno it is easy to go at Capri. The owners, mainly Camilla Aulisio, a descendant of the family, and her daughter Isabella, welcome you to the Domus Laeta.
Domus Laeta is an historical residence built in 1600 that still belongs to the Aulisio family. Facing south, Domus Laeta has an enchanting view right down to the sea. This ancient architectural structure still has original stables and mangers, oil-mill, cellars and bread ovens, as well as watch-towers and embrasures along the walls. The ancient water reservoir, located in the garden by the well–spring, has been turned into a swimming pool with hydromassage. Special attention is given to breakfast. Special lunches, traditional menus, banquets and parties as well as private meetings are provided on request.
In the common spaces the guests meet each other for a drink, they talk close to the fireplace, they dine all together around the great table in the big living room, or in the summer in the garden among the citrus trees. The library with its rare books bound in parchment is a place rich in culture and history. For those who want to consult them there is the catalogue.
