Salento is that part of the landscape which is the hell of Italy.
Put between two splendid seas: the Ionian on the West and the Adriatic on the East.
With more than 250 Km of coastlines sometimes low and sandy and sometimes high intended.
It was land of conquest on the eastern side on behalf of Greeks, Byzantines and Barbaric pirates.
The first inhabitances who lived in Salento were the 'Messapi'.
Proof of the presence is the Messapis museum in Vaste.
Among prehistoric rechs the most famous are 'Specchie' ( a kind of ancient monuments made of megalith), the Dolmen and the Menhir.
The Romans proceeded to methodically conquer and submitted the Messapic population in Salento.
Besides a real historic inheritance, Salento is rich of beautiful natural landscapes:
starting from natural oasis protected and managed by W.W.F. called the Cesine; to the many causes of which the most famous is the Zinzulusa's Cave that contains stalactitic and stalagmitic formations.
Also of greatinterest is the natural park of Portoselvaggio,
which overlooks on the Ionian sea, between Torre Pizzo, Gallipoli and Porto Cesareo.
It is a continuous striking view of woods, 'calette', sandy shores, dunes and reefs that fall sheer to the sea.
Salento's land is cultivated almost everywhere.
The vegetation is compound by very old olive trees.
Landscape, climate, the inborn hospitality of the people, the cultural and gourmet traditions, the colours, the perfumes and the variety of emotions this land suggests makes Salento an exclusive land full of attractives.
